POSTED: October 8, 2024 Students from the teaching pathway at WCHS were here at Lakeview Middle School to observe a day in the life of a teacher. Moses Hackenberg, Victoria Soberanis, Kaitlyn O'Dell, Carina Diaz Tello and Rosalee Aldefer spent the day helping out in the classroom, observing, and getting a better understanding of what it means to be a teacher. They have a five paragraph experience response activity to do as a reflection for their program. Thanks to Veronica Helser, Teaching Profession Pathway at Warsaw Area Career Center, for coordinating this opportunity. The class is called Principles of Teaching and is a dual credit option for students through Grace College. Posted: October 7, 2024 Lakeview Family, We'd love your help to gather much needed supplies before Friday, October 11: ​ Larger items (new or used): Dehumidifiers (one specific family is in need of a commercial dehumidifier, however many small ones are helping too!) Portable Generators Chainsaws ​ Personal Hygiene: Body wipes Camping shower kits Baby wipes etc. Portable Bucket Toilets ​ Cooking/Food: Propane Camp stoves Propane tanks Packaged rice/quinoa and packaged meats Water: Any form of water will help as there is no timeline for the city water to be back running. Life Straws (single, family, community) Gatorade/electrolyte drinks or packets Clean up supplies: Tarps Muck boots (chemical resistant) Disposable protective suits Respirators (or N-95 masks) Goggles/Safety glasses Shovels, buckets, garden wagons, trash bags If you want to help out but can’t bring anything in, we are also collecting monetary donations as well for larger items like generators and getting Shell and BP gas cards to keep generators running and fill up tanks for people who have lost so much! There is no pressure to give. We have a Lakeview teacher (Jordan Gardner) with a personal connection - so your donations will help specific families with huge needs in the deep parts of the mountains surrounding Asheville. ​ Thanks you!

POSTED: October 7, 2024 7th and 8th grade girls basketball tryouts will be October 22nd from 5:30-7:00 and October 24th from 3:30-5:00. These will be held at Lakeview this year. POSTED: October 4, 2024 Jon McDillon is an invaluable asset to all three secondary schools, providing critical support to both teachers and students. His work with the middle and high school math departments ensures curriculum development is strong, vertically aligned, and infused with best practices. Jon doesn't just support the department—he works directly with students when needed, showcasing his versatility and dedication. In addition to his math expertise, Jon plays a pivotal role in supporting new teachers across all secondary schools. Through New Teacher Orientation, Learning Crew, Learning Walks, individual coaching cycles, and regular classroom check-ins, he offers tailored guidance, feedback, and goal-setting to ensure every new teacher feels confident and supported. His leadership extends to planning and facilitating quarterly joint Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for the two middle schools while actively participating in PLCs across all secondary buildings. Jon also assists in creating and reviewing Common Formative Assessments (CFAs) and Interim Assessments to ensure they align with state standards and are appropriately rigorous for each grade level. Beyond assessments, Jon coordinates peer-to-peer learning days, fostering collaboration and growth among teachers at all three schools. POSTED: October 4, 2024 As the ELA Instructional Coach, Alysha Kline plays a vital role in supporting both the middle and high school ELA teams. By assisting with curriculum development and sharing best practices, Alysha ensures that Lakeview students are not only meeting state standards but are also equipped with the literacy skills they need for life. Alysha carefully plans and facilitates ELA collaboration days for all three schools and extends support to the middle school social studies and science teams by breaking down literacy standards and offering implementation ideas. In addition, Alysha leads joint ELA PLCs for both middle schools and attends regular PLCs across all three schools, always serving as a dedicated liaison to communicate important information between administrators and staff. With a passion for teacher growth, Alysha also helps organize peer-to-peer learning days, allowing teachers to learn from one another and grow together. A huge part of Alysha’s heart lies in supporting new teachers at the secondary level through New Teacher Orientation, Learning Crew sessions, Learning Walks, and one-on-one coaching cycles. Her students will be introduced to this to not only remediate and enrich skills, but for every problem answered correctly, 10 grains of rice are donated. Freerice is an educational trivia game that helps students get smarter while making a difference for people around the world. Through hands-on experiences, they explored a wide range of career opportunities in fields like orthopedics, automotive, and marine manufacturing, which are vital to Kosciusko County's economy. Students from Lakeview engaged in activities like a CNC machine demonstration, virtual reality training for medical education, and matching orthopedic implants with anatomy. With just 39 minutes, students were challenged to raise $3,000 by contacting family, friends, and local businesses. Lakeview students and their contacts really came through! POSTED: September 30, 2024 We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Warsaw Early Learning Academy (WELA) for welcoming Lakeview's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students for a wonderful visit! Our students had an incredible time donating books and reading to four different classrooms. It was truly inspiring to see our NJHS members engage with the future TIGERS and share their love of reading. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see where their efforts can lead! A special shout-out to Mrs. Manduka, the WCHS Librarian, for graciously hosting us during our tour of WCHS and showcasing the new library. We also want to thank our transportation team for providing a bus, ensuring everyone arrived safely and on time. Additionally, a huge thank you to Mrs. Barrett for her meticulous logistical arrangements that made this day possible. POSTED: September 30, 2024 ¡Hola todos! My name is Laysa Nocelotl (No-se-lo). I was lucky enough to have been born and raised here in the wonderful town of Warsaw, IN. Where I was also able to attend Lakeview Middle School and Warsaw Community High School growing up. After graduating from Warsaw, I attended Grace College where I majored in Spanish and Biology and had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain at the Universidad de Nebrija in Madrid. I am so excited to be able to return to Warsaw now as a second year Spanish teacher, for both Lakeview and WCHS. I am a first generation latina student and growing up I didn't have many role models that shared the same experiences, language, or culture as myself. Now returning as a teacher, I have been able to be THAT representation for other students like myself. While also being given the opportunity to share my experiences with the rest of the students and staff to promote cultural awareness and inclusivity within Warsaw Community Schools. Being able to teach in my native language and share my Hispanic heritage with students has been such a joy. Watching students get excited about Spanish and expanding their perspective on the world around them has been so rewarding and makes me so grateful to be a part of Warsaw Community Schools. In addition, in honor of Hispanic heritage month my Heritage Spanish classes have been conducting research on a famous Hispanic figure from a latin american country and their impact on the Hispanic community. #LakeviewInspires #wcsinspires

Posted: September 25, 2024 Warsaw Community Schools would like to extend our deepest gratitude to retired Lakeview Tech Jean Beeson for her continued generosity and dedication to our students. In yet another incredibly thoughtful gesture, Mrs. Beeson has donated a brand-new sewing machine to The Lakeview Sewing Club! The latest project is SEWING WITH A PURPOSE - students will be sewing kerchiefs and donating them to the Animal Welfare League (Insert collective ahhhhhhh). For many years, Jean has volunteered countless hours at Lakeview, leading Maker Club activities, teaching students and staff how to knit, and mentoring students in the art of sewing. On top of her teaching, she has gifted numerous beautiful, hand-made items to staff for bridal showers, baby showers, retirements, and birthdays—all made with love and care. We are beyond thankful that Jean will continue to share her time and talents, inspiring another generation of eager students to learn the timeless skill of sewing. Her generosity doesn't stop with us—you can also find her at Warsaw Public Library and Lakeland Christian Academy, where she continues to share her incredible gifts with the community. I graduated in 2015 with a degree in Tourism and Languages from Spain. I have a passion for linguistics and languages, and I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
