Students have been working on their archery skills over the past two weeks and getting better every day!
During the archery unit students have learned proper technique, safety skills, and ways to improve after every set.
It has been great to see students improve and gain confidence throughout the unit.
This has been a great lifetime activity teaching focus, discipline, and coordination, and we are thrilled to offer this to our students.
Two students have had PERFECT SCORES of 30: Mackaylee Fouts and Hayden Wood

Today, Lakeview students got a jump on Thanksgiving with a creative project—making Pumpkin Turkeys in the Lakeview Library! Thanks to the generosity of a local family, who had hosted a pumpkin-themed baby shower and wanted to share their adorable mini pumpkins, our students could dive into a fun, festive activity.
These pumpkins, sourced from a local farm, gave students a chance to show off their creativity, laughter, and teamwork, filling the library with the spirit of the season.
We’re so grateful for community donations that make these moments possible.

A huge thank you to Derek Pike and Dan Graney for planning and leading an impactful training on K-6 Computer Science Standards for our Digital Learning Specialists (DLS) and librarians!
Yesterday’s professional development session provided valuable insights to support our DLS staff, who teach essential digital skills during library specials for K-6 students. These educators go above and beyond, delivering lessons in cyber safety, coding, keyboarding, and computer science alongside the American Association of School Libraries (AASL) standards.
Our team of 8 dedicated DLS professionals is making a profound impact across our schools, which include 4 STEM, 2 DLI, and 2 Leadership elementary schools. Their work ensures that students not only meet but exceed foundational computer science skills. Here are two core areas where they’re helping students excel:
Digital Citizenship & Cyber Safety: Our DLS staff emphasize strong, ethical online behaviors, guiding students on how to protect personal information and practice responsible digital habits.
Coding and Data Analysis: By introducing students to the basics of coding and data visualization, our DLS team is building a foundation in computational thinking and preparing students to analyze data effectively.
In alignment with the AASL standards, our DLS team also nurtures essential skills, such as:
Inquiry and Curiosity: Encouraging students to ask questions and seek diverse perspectives, building a strong foundation in research and information literacy.
Collaborative Learning: Promoting teamwork and effective communication to help students work productively and respect diverse viewpoints.
Information Evaluation: Guiding students in assessing the accuracy and credibility of information sources to develop lifelong critical thinking skills.
We’re incredibly grateful to our DLS staff for reading to our students from an early age, fostering a love of literature, and creating warm, inviting libraries that serve as vibrant community spaces. Their dedication makes a meaningful difference in our students' lives. Here’s a special shout-out to each member of our outstanding DLS team:
Claypool STEM: Amy Smith
Eisenhower DLI: Trishelle Burchett
Harrison Leadership: Jeanne Conley
Jefferson STEM: Donna Propp
Leesburg DLI: Mandy Mahan
Lincoln Leadership: Athena Deck
Madison STEM: Sara Heckaman
Washington STEM: Fabiola Nunez
The foundational skills taught by these dedicated educators feed into our two middle schools and continue to grow at the high school level.
Thank you to Derek and Dan for your leadership and commitment to this vital work in computer science and digital literacy education. Together, we are preparing our students for a bright digital future!

Today, Lakeview and Edgewood Middle Schools proudly hosted a moving Veterans Day program, bringing together students, staff, families, and community members to honor the sacrifices of our military veterans. The Warsaw Middle School Band, Choir, and Orchestra Departments performed stirring selections as a tribute to all who have served.
Held in the Lakeview Middle School Gymnasium, the program featured exceptional performances by the Edgewood and Lakeview Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras. Under the expert direction of Joseph Peloza, the bands filled the gymnasium with powerful, patriotic sounds. The choirs, led by Jennifer Cooksey, delivered heartfelt vocal performances that resonated with pride and gratitude. Finally, Angela Dieleman guided the orchestras through stirring instrumental pieces, creating a memorable atmosphere to celebrate and honor veterans. Thanks to the JROTC led by Friedrich Josellis, MAJ (R), SAI for the presentation of the flag.
The concert provided a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with history and express their appreciation to those who have served. The Lakeview and Edgewood music departments poured countless hours into preparing for this event, and their hard work truly shone through in every performance.
A special thank you goes to everyone who organized this tribute and to all the veterans and families who attended. We are deeply grateful for the courage and commitment of those who served in any branch of the military, and we honor them today and always.

When we reached out to share our dream of creating beautiful tablescapes for this year's Christmas Luncheon on Friday, December 13th, Jeri and her dedicated PTO team made it happen in a big way.
Today, boxes of stunning Christmas garland arrived, and we are beyond grateful for this gift that will make our annual tradition of a festive meal with linens, plates, and silverware even more magical! It is something we all look forward to!
A huge thank you also goes to our wonderful Cafeteria Manager, Nicole Jackson, and her team, who will be crafting a delicious meal filled with love and care, creating a core memory for our 7th and 8th graders and our entire staff alike.
This is not just a meal; it's a moment that brings everyone together to share the joy and warmth of the season.
We are so grateful to have leadership that fosters a welcoming and positive environment for all, making our PTO feel valued and appreciated.

Huge Congratulations to Lakeview Middle School's powerhouse Science teacher, Mr. Mark McCollom, and his incredible 8th-grade students!
This year, they achieved the ultimate milestone—a flawless 100% pass rate on the 10th-grade ILearn Biology Assessment!
That’s right, every single student passed, with 6 earning proficiency and an astonishing 25 scoring above proficiency!
Mr. McCollom’s dedication and passion for science have inspired these students to reach beyond expectations and crush this higher-level test (typically taken during the sophomore year).
Here’s to Mr. McCollom for his unmatched teaching, relentless encouragement, and for setting a new benchmark for success.
And a massive shoutout to the 31 students who proved they’re not just ready for high school biology—they’re already excelling!
Lakeview’s dedicated teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents make Lakeview Middle School an outstanding place to learn and grow.

She has dedicated her time, talents, and resources to teach our students the art of sewing with purpose. Together, they’re crafting adorable accessories for the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, giving our furry friends the chance to shine in glamor shots and improve their adoption odds.
After dropping off our Halloween Collection, we're playing Christmas music in the Lakeview Library today and starting Christmas kerchiefs.
Thank you Mrs. Beeson for helping us make a difference, one stitch at a time!
